47 MASTERLESS SAMURAI
Chushingura - 1959 - Color -16:9 Widescreen - Extras - 2 Discs

Digitally Remastered, 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen Version!

While the story of the Ako Clan's vendetta has been told countless times, never before
has there been an array of major motion picture stars to bring new life to this timeless
tale. Starting with the corrup practices of Lord Kira and Yanagi-sawa, the Shogun's
Secretary, which in essence led to the incident of Lord Asano's attacking Kira in the
Pine Corridor of the Shogun's Palace, this is the definitive version. Asano Takumi no
kami was a young lord with high scruples, who refused to join in the general
corruption and bribery which ran rampant in the capital at that time. By not giving
bribes, he angered Kira Kozuke no suke the elder lord in charge of protocol at the
Palace. Refusing to teach the younger man, and giving him false instructions was
only the beginning. Insults followed, and a man of honor had no choice but to draw
his sword in anger. Forty seven masterless samurai are willing to give their lives to
avenge their lord. Nothing could match the courage of these warriors as they show
that truly the sword is the soul of the samurai, and the samurai is the soul of Japan.
This massive story is told in two parts, with an amazing all-star cast, a must see!

MINAMOTO YOSHITSUNE
Minamoto no Yoshitsune - 1990 - Color - Fullscreen - Extras - 2 Discs

One evening, when the monk Saito Musashibo Benkei was luring for his sword
number 1000 at Gojo bridge, Shanao (later Yoshitsune), a young man of small and
fragile stature passed by. He wore a nice sword and played the flute. It was an
unequal fight, but the outcome was different than one would have expected. Not the
physically superior Benkei won, but the agile Yoshitsune. He defeated the crude giant
with his swift and skillful movements and superior fighting techniques. Legend has it
that Shanao had received his sword training by the Tengu. They are mythological
creatures, half-human/half-bird, and first-class fighters in martial art. After this
remarkable "mother of all sword fights", Benkei vowed eternal loyalty to Shanao. His
life took a complete turn. From now on he accompanied his new lord through
numerous adventures and battles as the faithful vassal and second banana. It was
the time of the Genpei wars, when the Minamato clan finally defeated their arch-rivals,
the Taira clan in fierce fighting. Yoshitsune was the brilliant military leader of the
Minamato. Japanese history and legend books and Kabuki plays are full of
Yoshitsune's audacious and clever moves. And on his side, his faithful vassal Benkei,
feared by the enemy and revered by book readers and movie and theater spectators.

SHINSENGUMI
Shinsengumi - 1987 - Color - Fullscreen - 2 Discs

On June 5, 1864 the Shinsengumi raided anti-Shogunate activists at Kyoto's Ikedaya
Inn. This act not only saved the city from the planned fires which were being used to
cover up the kidnapping of the Emperor, but also elevated the group to fame and a
place in history. Nearly 300 years of the Tokugawa's rule would be torn apart by
extremists bent on restoring Imperial power. As the alliance of atsume-Choshu-Tosa
Clans progressed, only the Shinsengumi was able to stand up to them, and delayed
the eventual fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This is the story of that famous group,
led by Kondo Isami, who is portrayed to per-fection by motion picture star Matsukata

Yagyu Abaretabi - 1980-1981 - Color - Fullscreen - Extras

Yagyu Abaretabi is a samurai television series from the JAC (Japan Action Club)
which followed the successful Yagyu Conspiracy series with new and exciting
stories. Unlike the first series, which was basically set in and around the Shogun's

the one-eyed swordsman of legendary prowess), this is a series not to be missed.
