IN SEARCH OF MOTHER

A wandering yakuza gambler Chutaro (Nakamura Kinnosuke) travels throughout

This is an unusual and sentimental story directed by noted film-maker Kato Tai.
Along with a number of other classics (most notably SWORD OF FURY, THE
CRUEL STORY, and FLAMES OF BLOOD) from this director, this is a well-made
movie with some interesting twists and turns. There's not too much action, but a
clever and moving story of the harsh life led by the wandering gamblers and yakuza
of the Tokugawa period. This is a fine example of a higly regarded director's best work.
